This summer, the Human Rights Media Institute is proud to present world renowned journalist and author, Robert Fisk.  See below, a list of dates and locations.  Don't miss Robert Fisk, who will be visiting all major cities in Canada in June 2006!
 
The Human Rights Media Institute in collaboration with many organizations is proud to present world renowned journalist and author, Robert Fisk in a national fundraising tour.  Robert Fisk, internationally recognized journalist for the Independent of London, speaks on his new book "The Great War for Civilization: The Conquest of the Middle East".  The book will be sold at the event for the special price of $50 (retail $60) and you can have it signed there by Mr. Fisk.

The tour has been organized to raise funds for the Under the Olive Tree radio exchange program. UOT in collaboration with I'lam the
Palestinian-Israeli media center in Nazareth within the 1948 territories and the International Middle East Media Center (IMEMC), a
Palestinian initiative based in Beit Sahour within the 1967 territories, will be sending two Palestinian youth from Canada to intern in Palestine and bringing two Palestinians from Palestine to intern with four radio stations in North America.  The first leg of the exchange program will start in July and we need your help.

Specify lecture and/or reception and the number of tickets you require when you email your local organizers.  Your tickets will be reserved at the door where there will be a separate line for ticket holders.  We will be accepting cash only at the doors.
 
Vancouver, BC: Sunday June 4th.  Lecture and Book signing, 7:00pm, Maritime Labour Center 1880 Triumph st, North of Hastings at Victoria drive and Triumph. $10-$20 Sliding scale.  

Calgary, AB: Monday June 5th.  Lecture and Book signing, 7:00pm, University of Calgary, Alberta Room, Dinning Centre. $20 in advance $25 at door. 

Ottawa, ON: Tuesday June 6th.   Lecture and Book signing, 6:30pm, Carleton University, Alumni Theater, $10-$20 Sliding scale, 444 seats. 

Montreal, QC: Wednesday June 7th.  Lecture and Book signing, 6:00pm Concordia University, Room H-110, $10-$20 Sliding scale, 650 seats.

Biography 
Robert Fisk, internationally recognized journalist for the Independent of London, peaks on his new book. Described by the New York Times as "probably the most famous foreign correspondent in Britain", Fisk has over thirty years of experience in international reporting, dating from 1970s Belfast and Portugal's 1974 Carnation Revolution, the 1975-1990 Lebanese Civil War, and encompassing the 1979 Iranian revolution, the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war, 1991 Persian Gulf War, 2002 Invasion of Afghanistan and 2003 Invasion and subsequent Occupation of Iraq.
 
Fisk has received Amnesty International UK Press Awards in 1998 for his reports from Algeria and again in 2000 for his articles on NATO air campaign against Yugoslavia in 1999. He received the British Press Awards' International Journalist of the Year seven times, and twice won its "Reporter of the Year" award. In addition to his reporting, he has authored several books including "Pity the Nation: Lebanon at War", "In Time of War: Ireland, Ulster and the Price of Neutrality", and most recently "The Great War for Civilisation: The Conquest of the Middle East".
